The “100,000+ deaths” claim sounds convincing… until you actually check the source.
The Al Jazeera report being cited is just repeating a The Lancet estimate — one that relies on broad assumptions, not confirmed totals.
Even then, the numbers don’t add up:
75,200 + 16,300 = 91,500.
So where does 100K come from?
On top of that, the same reporting contradicts itself within the same timeframe, and official reporting already includes categories for both indirect deaths and those under rubble.
