Welcome to the weekly Energy SITREP (issued every Sunday).

The global energy system is under pressure as tensions escalate again in the Strait of Hormuz—one of the most critical energy transit routes in the world.

Since April 18, 2026, multiple tankers have been fired upon, seized, or forced to reroute, including vessels like MSC Francesca, Jag Arnav, Touska, Ocean Jet, Lumina Ocean, and Helga.

The U.S. Navy escalated enforcement operations, intercepting Iranian-linked tankers across the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean, while also authorizing direct action against mine-laying vessels under orders from President Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, US negotiators did not travel to Islamabad for geopolitical negotiations leaving global markets on edge.

This crisis is no longer contained to one region:

Somali piracy has re-emerged, targeting oil-linked shipping routes

Drone attacks in Kuwait signal expanding proxy conflict

Naval mines and maritime threats are disrupting global shipping

At the same time, the oil and LNG markets are scrambling to adapt:

QatarEnergy expands LNG capacity with Baker Hughes

The Golden Pass LNG Terminal rises in importance

U.S. LNG exports are offsetting supply disruptions from the Gulf

Chevron restarts Wheatstone LNG after cyclone damage

Countries like Pakistan and Jordan scramble for LNG cargoes

We’re also seeing structural shifts:

Oil trade moving into Chinese yuan

Russia rerouting exports from the Druzhba pipeline

New sanctions targeting Yamal LNG

Saudi Arabia advancing a major Asia-Europe corridor

And in the U.S., this matters directly because:

Higher oil prices translate to higher gas prices

Higher shipping costs translate to higher inflation

Inevitably, this means global disruption has a real impact on your wallet

Even as multinational energy corporations like Eni continue discovering new reserves, the system is being tested and is under severe strain.

📢 This video breaks down everything you need to know about the Hormuz crisis, tanker seizures, LNG markets, what it means for the global economy, and what it means to us as Americans.

Subscribe to stay informed on conflict developments, energy industry updates, and maritime chokepoints affecting global supply chain and following the daily energy sitrep.
