0:34Now PlayingWhat happens when the mission demands intelligence, but your humanity demands something more?
On Episode 014 of the Not a Grayman Podcast, CST leader Sam Juan takes us inside the multilayered realities of war when she was supporting SEAL Team Six during night raids in Afghanistan.
Sam shares the aftermath of a bombing at a compound, where a female survivor was left kicking and screaming in the rubble. Her role required her to remain focused, enter the medtent, and collect valuable intelligence. But in the midst of the mission, something deeply human emerged.
She took control of the room.
And then she said something you don’t often hear on the battlefield: “I’m sorry.”
It’s a powerful reminder that war is rarely as simple as carrying out the mission. It is also about people, priorities, trauma, duty, and the humanity that can emerge even in the darkest moments.
Thank you, Sam, for taking us into the moment —and for sharing the parts of the battlefield that don’t always get talked about.
