YouTube Description
as posted by the channelICYMI, on Thursday Muslim faithful began to flow through the holy city of Mecca in the first "hajj" (the largest annual pilgrimage) after the covid-19 pandemic, for which the Saudi authorities have granted a million permits after Two years minimum dues.
The pilgrims, all dressed in white with the traditional seamless "ihram" garments, began the first of the three days of the religious event by going around the Kaaba seven times, the prism-shaped construction located in the center of the Great Mosque of Mecca.
They then moved to the Mina Valley, on the outskirts of Mecca, to perform another ritual called "al taruiya" or revelation, consisting of prayers and meditation before starting their trip on Friday to Mount Arafat, some 20 kilometers to the east. of the Great Mosque, on the second and main day of the "hajj".
Despite the fact that Saudi Arabia allowed a much higher number of devotees than the thousand in 2020 and the 60,000 in 2021, and that it authorized the arrival of Muslims from other countries for the first time in two years, this year's figure is still far of the 2.5 million in 2019. #shorts
