as posted by the channelFlorida is moving to be the first state in the nation to no longer require any immunizations, and shots to prevent measles and polio in children could be the first to go.
Florida's surgeon general, Joseph Ladapo, announced the move at a press conference Wednesday. He said the state's Department of Health can start by ending daycare and preschool requirements for about seven vaccines that prevent whooping cough, measles, mumps, rubella, polio, hepatits B and chickenpox.
Major medical organizations continue to say these shots are safe and effective, including the World Health Organization, which says that over the past half century, vaccines have saved more than 150 million lives — more than 100 million of whom were babies.
