YouTube Description
as posted by the channelFilmmaker M. Night Shyamalan, best known for his supernatural thrillers like The Sixth Sense, has teamed up with novelist Nicholas Sparks, famed for The Notebook and many more romantic novels, to create a new novel and an upcoming film, both called Remain. The collaboration may seem unlikely but the pair call it a natural fit for two seasoned creatives who admire each other's work.
Shyamalan and Sparks crafted the story at the same time, with the novel out today [October 14th] and the film due in theaters in October 2026. The process required the two to be so closely in tune that they say it's unlikely a joint effort like this will happen again anytime soon.
They sat down with Morning Edition host Leila Fadel at NPR's New York studios to discuss the process.
