Reshona Landfair, previously known as the “Jane Doe” who testified against R. Kelly, is out with a new memoir, “Who’s Watching Shorty?”

Now 41, Landfair was seen in a now-infamous videotape Kelly made of himself sexually abusing Landfair when she was just 14 years old. The video was shown to the juries in two of Kelly’s trials on child pornography charges: first, in 2008, which ended in his acquittal, and again in 2022, which resulted in Kelly’s conviction.

“It’s painful to think about, even now,” Landfair writes in her book of the 2008 trial, “that everyone who could snag a spot in the gallery of Illinois’s hottest courtroom drama of the decade could watch as my young, naked, brown body was degraded and abused for free, my first and last name in everyone’s mouth. I wonder, if my body hadn’t been brown, would anyone outside of the jury have seen it exposed and abused?”

Landfair reflected on how her race affected her treatment, and more, in an interview with NPR’s “All Things Considered.”
