President Trump announced last week that Bondi was out from the top job at the Justice Department. In a letter, lawyers at the department cited her removal as the reason she is no longer obligated to appear. Bondi had faced criticism during her tenure over the department’s handling of the Epstein files — and of her handling of cases against Trump’s perceived political enemies.
The Republican-led committee plans to work with Bondi’s personal attorney to set a new date for her deposition. Bondi is part of a long list of witnesses — that also includes Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and former Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates — who are scheduled to appear before the panel in the coming weeks for transcribed interviews regarding Epstein.
