Allen has deep roots in standup comedy – he performed on Johnny Carson when he was just 18 years old. But he’s also a media mogul and self-proclaimed billionaire, who owns The Weather Channel, dozens of broadcast and cable channels and a majority stake in Buzzfeed.
In this interview with Ailsa Chang of "All Things Considered," Allen talks about his vision for his media empire and why it’s important for Black Americans to control how they’re produced and depicted on screen.
