Germany is a four-time World Cup champion. Paraguay had not won a game outside of the group stage of the tournament in sixteen years. But when the two teams met on Monday afternoon in Foxborough, Massachusetts, a scrappy Paraguay fought Germany to a one-one tie. They held the tie in extra time and then won on penalty kicks, triggering celebrations across the South American country and in Paraguayan communities throughout the United States.
