YouTube Description
as posted by the channelI’ve been doing soft tissue work on my body for the past 12-13 years and it’s been massive for my recovery and keeping my body supple so I can keep making pain free progress.
-
Every week I take the time to bring pressure to every tissue of my body. This is what I do instead of going to chiropractors or massage therapists. I spend time to work on my own tissues and become my own body worker.
-
There are so many benefits to soft tissue work, but I would say the biggest is the awareness it brings you. You start working on tissues on your right side, then you work on your left and you notice a real difference in tissue quality between the two. Areas you thought were fine turn out to be holding tension you didn’t even know was there.
-
As you learn to breathe and relax through the pressure instead of bracing against it, you’ll feel that tension begin to let go. Your body starts to hold less chronic tension at rest. You’re not walking around clenched all day without realizing it.
-
The biggest mistake people make with tissue work is holding their breath. When you hold your breath, your body holds on to tension to try and protect itself. That’s the opposite of what you want.
-
Whether you’re doing tissue work on yourself or going to a massage therapist, use the right amount of pressure. The right amount is the amount that allows you to breathe as pressure is being applied. If you can’t breathe through it, back off.
-
Also, i love to do this while my tissues are warm. It makes massage that much more effective, so I do it in my @plunge sauna. If you can find a gym sauna, or take a warm shower prior, this will feel even better!
-
I built a course in the stronger human community called “become your own body worker” that teaches you exactly how to do this for your entire body.
