2:28Now PlayingAccurate and reliable weather forecasts and warnings are essential for the public authorities, the economic sector and the general public in order to take weather-dependent decisions in a timely manner. The weather forecasting models of MeteoSwiss represents a significant increase in model resolution. The new COSMO-1 model requires 40 times more computing power than the older COSMO-2 model. It is executed on the new Piz Kesch supercomputer comprising of hybrid compute nodes each with 8 Tesla K80 GPU accelerators per node.
