Threatening portrayals of Christians in power have been solidified in the public mind through film and television for decades. Cult-like villainous Christians who use the Bible to justify the mistreatment of others is a common and predictable storyline.
Even Rainn Wilson, star of The Office, recently admitted that whenever a character invokes the Bible, it's almost immediately assumed that we're being introduced to a "horrific villain." It's not just in entertainment.
The Guardian penned a hit piece against us in 2021, warning their readers that Caldron Pool is "fomenting Christian Nationalism" in Australia. Shock! Horror! The humanity!
But what exactly are "Christian Nationalists" proposing? Violent revolutions? A forcible takeover of power? Far, far from it.
