1:42Now PlayingThe Mayor's Office of Media & Entertainment and small theatre groups collaborated on "Off Broadway in the BorosPopUps," a series of five outdoor popup performances, one in each borough, from October 2326.
The series was a way to call attention to the important contribution small theatres make to New York City’s cultural fabric, while also providing support for artists and organizations struggling during the pandemic.
The events gave artists and theatres the opportunity to bring their work right into the communities they are a part of. Each performance took place at a public plaza in each of the five boroughs.
The five theatre organizations involved were: Pregones/PRTT, LaMama Theatre, The Chocolate Factory, Bushwick Starr, and A Collaboration: Kaleidoscope Entertainment & Staten Island Illuminart Productions.
