2:03Now PlayingWe have #satellites on land to track forest #ecosystem management, and now Scripps Institution of Oceanography has the tech to do this for marine environments. On this mission, they’ll have taken an estimated 750,000 photos of the Florida Reef tract, which is then used to construct 3-D models of the sea floor. This #technology is invaluable for assessing changes in the #reef over time, including the spread of stony coral tissue loss disease, and to study the reef even after divers are long out of the water. With thanks to our partners at Bloomberg Philanthropies Vibrant Oceans Initiative, who helped enable this mission, along with Mote Marine Lab and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. #oceanx
