In case you missed you it, check out our favorite highlights from our ROV dive in Azores, Portugal with scientist Guilherme Gonçalves from the University of the Azores. We explored the sponges and corals on the region's seamounts to learn how the communities of deep-sea are affected as the depth changes.
We saw incredible marine life from a thresher shark to a squid and of course, many sponges and coral. The samples we gathered will help identify some of the species we saw, as some are almost impossible to identify by the image alone. One species can come in many different shape, or different species can look nearly identical.
