YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe Red Sea is a global biodiversity hotspot and is home to a vast array of endemic species. To get a complete picture of this complex web of life, scientists will collect environmental DNA - samples of seawater and deep sea sediment - and analyze them with cutting-edge technology to see which organisms are present in the Red Sea right now and also hundreds of years ago. Through the study of eDNA, scientists will be able to gain a fuller understanding of what lives in the Red Sea, and propose conservation measures to protect this valuable ecosystem.
