as posted by the channelWhile in Cape Town, we welcomed 14 students aboard the OceanXplorer for our Young Explorers Program and set sail for the next leg of our Around Africa Expedition with OceanQuest.
These Young Explorers had a busy week of immersive learning, observing research, and of course, lots of adventure. Each student had the opportunity to learn about everything that happens aboard a research vessel, including ship operations, mapping, eDNA analysis, and the media that captures it all.
NASA researchers also onboard to conduct research to ground truth the new PACE satellite. This process includes deploying sensors and collecting samples to be combined with the satellite data which will give us a better understanding of the health of the ocean.
With this valuable experience and education, our Young Explorers are on the path towards becoming the next generation of ocean leaders and storytellers.
