YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThis week aboard the OceanXplorer, we reached the stunning waters of Cabo Verde.
In collaboration with local scientists from IMAR as part of our Around Africa Expedition with OceanQuest, we explored the Nola Seamounts—a pair of underwater volcanic peaks teeming with life. Using submersibles, ROVs, high-resolution mapping, and even helicopter surveys, we painted the most complete picture yet of this remarkable deep-sea ecosystem.
Along the way, we encountered deep-sea corals, dolphins, and even a pod of orcas. We also had the honor of hosting the President of Cabo Verde, José Maria Neves, sharing with him a rare glimpse of the deep ocean that surrounds his nation.
Stay curious and keep exploring.
