YouTube Description
as posted by the channelIn Timor-Leste, we explored one of the least studied marine regions in the Coral Triangle.
Through a BioBlitz, researchers led by Gustav Paulay from University of Florida and Francesca Benzoni from KAUST are documenting as many species as possible across reef and deep-sea habitats. This includes invertebrates, corals, and organisms rarely seen alive, many of which have never been recorded before.
Early findings suggest thousands of species, with hundreds potentially new to science.
This work helps to build the baseline data needed to understand what exists here, so it can be protected, managed, and studied in the future.
