YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThis is what it looks like to collect data from a whale’s breath.
In Timor-Leste, OceanX worked with Ocean Alliance to deploy SnotBot, a drone that flies through a whale’s blow to collect biological samples, without ever touching the animal..
That mist holds vital clues: DNA, hormones, and microbes. Data that helps scientists understand whale health, stress, and population dynamics in real time.
On this mission, we're using this data to study how factors like Cookiecutter shark bites may be affecting pygmy blue whales' condition during migration.
This non-invasive technique allows scientists to monitor their health over time and build the knowledge needed to safeguard their future.
