A similar case in California saw the courts rule that two Poway Unified school board members violated parents' First Amendment rights by blocking critical comments on social media accounts they sometimes used for school business, costing the district about a million dollars. The cases highlight why local school board elections matter and the importance of protecting parental free speech.
