During the hearing, Blanche defended the fund, saying it is designed to address politically motivated targeting and is not limited to any one party or investigation.
Senators also questioned Blanche on the Trump administration’s proposed $22 billion DOJ budget for fiscal year 2027, including expanded efforts to combat fraud and abuse involving taxpayer dollars and government programs.
The budget proposal includes funding for 100 additional attorneys dedicated to the National Fraud Enforcement Division as the administration pushes for tougher enforcement nationwide.
