5:15Now PlayingMore details are emerging about Saturday’s shooting outside the White House gates, where a gunman opened fire near a Secret Service checkpoint, prompting an immediate lockdown and shelter-in-place order for reporters and staff.
OAN Chief Pentagon Correspondent Alexander Ingersoll was on scene during a live hit when shots rang out, forcing him and others to take cover as security responded. Authorities say the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Nassir Best, is now confirmed dead after an exchange of gunfire with the Secret Service.
Officials also report a bystander was struck during the incident, while investigators continue to review the suspect’s prior interactions with law enforcement and access attempts at the White House complex.
New questions are now being raised about how the suspect obtained a firearm and what warning signs may have been missed.
