6:33Now PlayingDallas Police say a traffic stop on May 30 led to the arrest of 37-year-old Stacey Huffman on charges including driving with an invalid license, drug possession, and unlawful possession of a firearm. While being transported to jail, investigators say Huffman slipped one hand from his handcuffs, moved into the driver’s seat of the patrol vehicle, and drove away with an officer still inside.
Police say the squad car traveled about 1,000 feet at speeds of up to 50 mph before Huffman exited the moving vehicle and was taken into custody.
Both Huffman and Officer Kenneth Harper were hospitalized, with Harper later released.
Additional charges, including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and escape from custody, are expected when Huffman is released from the hospital.
