3:05Now PlayingThe Trump administration is pushing back against media reports portraying sailors and Marines aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln as victims of mistreatment during the carrier’s extended deployment.
Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao says the safety and security of U.S. sailors and Marines remains the administration’s top priority. The Lincoln spent more than 266 days deployed, including roughly 200 days in a combat zone amid the conflict with Iran, conducting more than 10,000 sorties and dropping 1.5 million pounds of ordnance.
President Trump also addressed questions about the carrier’s lengthy deployment, while Secretary of War Pete Hegseth praised the sailors and Marines who endured the demanding mission.
The USS George Washington is reportedly heading to the Middle East to replace the Abraham Lincoln.
