Is It Time to End Daylight Savings Time?

Most Americans grew up hearing the phrase “spring forward, fall back,” referring to Daylight Savings Time, where an hour is added to the clock during Spring and taken off in Autumn to take advantage of longer summertime daylight. While it was originally introduced to save energy, does it still fit our world? A few years back, politicians proposed a bill to create Permanent Saving Time, and more recently President Trump has called to end it. Those who want to end the practice call it inconvenient and a drain on our productivity, our ability to get a good night’s sleep, and bad for our health. Those who want to keep changing the clocks argue that our bodies eventually get used to the time change, and the longer hours during the summer allow for a higher quality of life, healthier economies, and better mental health.

As the clock is about to change, we debate the question: Is It Time to End Daylight Savings Time?
