DESCRIPTION
As part of the first presentation of the “Moons” MOOC (Massively Open Online Course) on FutureLearn, the Open University hosted three live interactive broadcasts: “Hangouts on Air” during April and May 2014. The Hangouts were broadcast live simultaneously via Google + and YouTube, with learners being able to submit questions in advance (via the course) and live (via Google + and Twitter) on topics covered in the course.
The broadcasts were presented by Open University academics and featured live guests from the Lunar Planetary Institute in Houston as well as the South Colorado Institute. The Hangouts ran for 45 minutes each with a format that consisted of topical discussion, desktop sharing (of crater footage), Q & A, experiments and demonstrative props to make learning fun. The second presentation of Moons runs in February 2015.
