21:15Now PlayingThis is the full Outkick the Show program with Clay Travis on Monday, December 10. Clay Travis discussed Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray winning the Heisman Trophy. Kyler Murray topped Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins to win the 2018 Heisman Trophy.
Clay Travis said despite Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray winning the Heisman Trophy, Tua Tagovailoa is the better quarterback. Kyler Murray will play against Tua Tagovailoa in the first round of the college football playoffs. Clay Travis said he believes Alabama will destroy Oklahoma in the first round of the college football playoffs.
Clay Travis then discussed Kyler Murray’s tweets from when he was 14 years old. Clay Travis said Kyler Murray’s tweets shouldn’t be an issue and took journalists to shame for unearthing the Kyler Murray’s tweets.
Clay Travis wrote on Outkick the Coverage, “Saturday night Kyler Murray won the Heisman trophy. By later that evening Murray’s offensive Tweets, sent when he was a teenager, had emerged, eventually leading many top mainstream media outlets to run stories about the Tweets.”
“This has become an all too common theme and, frankly, it’s patently absurd and indefensible from a journalistic perspective to continue the trend of shaming teenagers for the things they Tweeted when they were children. But this is just the tip of the social media outrage iceberg. I’m going to argue in this column that all of us, media and general public alike, need to recalibrate our responses to social media and the way we allow its controversies and crises to drive our media cycles.”
Clay Travis also discussed the Dallas Cowboys trading for former Oakland Raiders wide receiver Amari Cooper and said the Amari Cooper trade was the greatest in-season trade in the history of the NFL and Jerry Jones should be recognized for that. Because of Jerry Jones' trade, Amari Cooper has turned around the Dallas Cowboys fortunes this year and the Dallas Cowboys now lead everyone in the NFC East by two games.
Lastly, Clay Travis discussed the Tennessee basketball team beating Gonzaga. The Tennessee basketball team beat the top ranked Gonzaga basketball team over the weekend. The Tennessee basketball team's victory over Gonzaga is the highlight of Rick Barnes' career at Tennessee.
Clay Travis also wrote, "It’s the outrage Olympics every damn day and instead of being the adults in the room, the media exacerbates this tension, leading to one moment of satirical absurdity after another.
Look at what just happened to Kevin Hart, the man who was picked to host the Oscars. The moment he was named as Oscar host the same losers who went after Kyler Murray went back through Hart’s old Tweets and found them lacking. Hart’s spent his entire career trying to make people laugh. I know this going to shock y’all, but it turns out that some of Kevin Hart’s jokes were offensive to some people.
But, and this is key, the intent was to make people laugh. I’m old enough to remember when intent still mattered. Not just some loser’s feelings."
