Clay Travis: Davis Lakers, John Wall, VA Governor, TN basketball

Clay Travis, on Periscope and Facebook Live, opined on the Anthony Davis trade drama in the NBA, as well as the political disaster in Virginia, Cuonzo Martin’s return to Tennessee, and the recent animal thunderdome events involving a meth-fueled bear as well as a jogger placing a mountain lion in a stranglehold.

Said Travis, Anthony Davis behaving like a guy who doesn’t realize how good he is. Anthony Davis grew up idolizing LeBron James and is now enamored by his attention. LeBron James does what’s best for LeBron James, and demonstrated this when he bailed on Cleveland, then Miami, then Cleveland again, thereby making a string of strategic decisions based on what benefited him the most. What LeBron hasn’t done is discarded his leverage by preemptively changing organizations.

Anthony Davis, on the other hand, said Travis, is considering leaving the New Orleans Pelicans to join the Los Angeles Lakers because he is taken by LeBron James’ attention and could be entering a sabotaged situation given the assets that would be lost in such a trade. The Lakers, said Travis, are working to satisfy James and his short-term interests, and Davis would essentially make a a considerable sacrifice. The way Davis is behaving, said Travis, is unsophisticated and unintelligent.

Clay Travis shared why “supermax” contracts don’t make sense for NBA organizations. John Wall, aka John Fall, for instance, recently tore his ACL and will be out for a year. His current contract will provide 38 million next year, $41,000,000 the next, followed by $44,000,000 then $47,000,000 for a total of $170,000,000 guaranteed. The implications for Davis are obvious, said Travis, and his agent needs to not only represent LeBron’s interests but his as well.

Clay Travis then turned to the political nightmare in Virginia. Governor Northam in Virginia has a yearbook photo in his 1984 medical school yearbook in either blackface or a KKK uniform. “How could this man get elected governor without this photo coming out,?” asked Travis. Apparently a former classmate of his was upset re: Northam’s position on abortion and outed the photo.

Meanwhile, said Travis, the Lt. Gov. of Virginia is facing sexual assault charges from a 2004 incident at the DNC. Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax claims it was consensual, and there is zero corroborating evidence substantiating the alleged victims’ claims. Comparisons can clearly be drawn to the Kavanaugh situation, including the alleged victim opting to hire the law firm hired by Kavanaugh’s accuser. The #metoo movement will not stand without facts, yet Cory Booker is not applying the same standard to Fairfax, said Travis.

Clay Travis then commented on Tennessee basketball news and how some reactions to Cuonzo Martin’s return to Tennessee exemplifies the fallacy behind making everything religion and race-based. Performance supersedes race or religion, and Martin is an average coach. “It has nothing to do with his race,” said Travis.

Clay Travis then revealed an update regarding a Tennessee man who was previously believed to have been killed by a bear actually died from a meth overdose and was then eaten by the bear in the Smoky Mountains. According to Travis, a meth-bear on a meth-based-rampage in the Smoky Mountains might have been the ultimate apex-predator of all time.

Travis concluded by referencing a big win for mankind in the animal thunderdome, sharing a story about a man who, while out for a jog, mortally strangled an attacking mountain. Lesson learned, said Travis, #DBAP.
