On Wednesday, February 6, 2019 Clay Travis, on Outkick the Show, shared the updated ranking of major NCAA D1 college football programs and their recruiting classes go 2019. Clay Travis said he uses the 247 Sports’ composite system as it complies an average of the major recruiting services that scout and rank programs across the country.

Clay Travis further commented on Nick Saban’s recruiting class at Alabama possibly being his best yet, and Kirby Smart’s success with landing 5, 5 star players in this class.

Clay Travis commented on President Trump’s State of the Union speech on February 5th, recognizing its excellence. Travis complimented Trump’s speech both in how it was expertly crafted and inspiring. The uplifting speech, according to Clay Travis, was particularly moving because of Travis’s appreciation for the brave men who stormed the beaches of Normandy as Travis has visited Normandy and witnessed firsthand the battle sites on the beaches and small farming communities in France. Clay Travis further commented on the brilliance of the bookend formulation of his speech, with WW II veterans recognized at the beginning and ending of Trump’s message. Clay Travis also loved the inclusion of Buzz Aldren, with a special appreciation for his bold salute.

Clay Travis pointed specific highlights of the speech, including the importance of having a moral imperative, the unemployment rate currently sitting at an all time low, particularly for minorities. Clay thought Trump did a great job selecting people to illustrate his speaking points, including criminal justice reform. Clay Travis shared his appreciation for Trump’s diplomacy with North Korea and military success with Isis and plan to return our troops from Afghanistan.

Clay Travis pointed out how much of the volatile criticism of President Trump is due to his behavior on Twitter.

In contrast, Clay Travis shared how small the Democratic women of Congress looked dressed in white with sullen faces.

Clay Travis also added how the singing of Happy Birthday and chants of USA reminded him of how, apart from social media, the people of our country can live at peace in spite of differences and unite when we need to. This, said Travis, is how lawyers typically behave. They can disagree on legal matters, but gather at the end of the day and have a beer together.

Clay Travis then shared his thoughts on the political debacle in Virginia, with the Governor (Ralph Northam) being called to resign for his 1984 medical school yearbook photo in either blackface or a KKK uniform, the Lt Governor (Justin Fairfax) who is currently fight a legal battle over sexual assault charges, and the Attorney General (Mark Herring) who was also photographed in blackface in his younger years.

Finally, Clay Travis commented on Jemele Hill and her ill-advised decision to make an assassination reference during President Trump’s State of the Union address. Travis pointed out how Jemele Hill was fired from ESPN for calling President Trump a white supremacist and now might face work-related consequences with her latest employer, The Atlantic.
