As smart talented as John Elway was as a QB, said Travis, he has proven to be a horrible executive. Clay went on to point out Elway’s pursuit of a QB has been an abject failure. Travis shared that Joe Flacco is set to make 20 million dollars, and doubts Flacco will make an impact in Denver. Clay Travis further stated his opinion that the Broncos are in a better position than the Baltimore Ravens with Lamar Jackson. Clay Travis compared quarterbacks Tim Tebow, Vince Young, RG III, and Lamar Jackson as all being great athletes who didn’t and don’t have all the tools necessary to become effective quarterbacks in the NFL.
Clay Travis announced that the The Lakers are dead. Clay pointed out that nobody else is saying it, but the LeBron James move to the LA Lakers feels like Michael Jordan’s move to the Washington Wizards. It will be the part of his career that everyone will say didn’t remember, said Travis. If the Lakers make the playoffs it will be a disaster. 2/3 of the NBA season is over, and if the Lakers somehow make the playoffs, Clay doesn’t think they’ll win a series.
Clay Travis continued by discussing Cleveland Browns’ owner Jimmy Haslan and his decision to pull all his advertisements off of ESPN because of the ESPN article that criticized his management style as well as his oil company’s woes. Clay mentioned how he doesn’t begrudge either party, that ESPN should go with a story if it is newsworthy, and Jimmy Haslam has every right to pull his ads. The SEC, however, said Travis, is getting tarred and feathered based on their business relationship with ESPN. The financial strain Haslam’s decision will be significant for the SEC. The damage was merely collateral.
Clay finished with mentioning the big college basketball wins for Duke and LSU. Clay Travis mentioned that Kentucky got away with basket interference, and the LSU shot should have been good. LSU, said Travis, has the inside track to win the SEC.
