Clay Travis: Odell Beckham, Le’Veon Bell, Zion Williamson, Tucker Carlson, Aunt Becky, Will Wade

On Outkick the Show, Clay Travis discussed Odell Beckham Jr’s move from the New York Giants to the Cleveland Browns in arguably the biggest trade in the NFL since Herschel Walker in 1989. The Browns are giving up 1st and 3rd round picks, along with a safety, to add OBJ to their incredible, and young, offense. OBJ and Jarvis Landry are the best duo of receivers in the NFL, and Baker Mayfield now has an impressive offensive arsenal in his hands, said Travis. They might not win the league this season, but they are probably the best team in the AFC North.

Clay Travis continued by claiming former Pittsburgh Steeler running back Le’Veon Bell has made one of the most disastrous decisions in the history of the NFL for a running back. Bell lost millions by sitting out a season waiting for a larger contract, and will now play for the New York Jets without making up the necessary $50 million of guaranteed money he lost in the deal. This, says Travis, is an unmitigated financial disaster for Bell and his agent; the worst since Ricky Williams had his rookie contract negotiated by Master P. Time has proven the Steelers were willing to grant him more money than he could ever make anywhere else, said Travis. “Know your value, but don’t get wrapped up in your millennial feelings.”

In college basketball news, Zion Williamson is returning to the court tonight for the Duke Blue Devils, said Travis, and it will be interesting to see how much time he plays against Syracuse in the ACC game, and UNC tomorrow.

Suspended LSU basketball coach Will Wade wants to coach again, said Travis, and announced he wants his “due process rights.” This is ludicrous, said Travis, because that is exactly what is taking place. Wade needs to comply with his employer but he is refusing to do so. This is probably a strong legal angle, and will likely plead the 5th during the trial, but will likely never coach in the NCAA again. He might get an opportunity in the NBA, said Travis.

Clay Travis continued by discussing how Tucker Carlson is currently being investigated for some comments he made ten years ago on a radio show with “Bubba the love sponge.” Clay Travis has consistently disagreed with people on both sides of the aisle on this trend to tell people they are no longer qualified to do their job because of some soundbite or story in their past. Clay reminded viewers he supported both the Governor of Virginia as well as Justice Kavanaugh. “This scorched earth, gotcha journalism is a flaw and a stain on our nation’s national discourse.” As a result, everyone is trying to destroy each other rather than share and defend ideas in the court of public opinion.

“Reasonable, smart people, need to acknowledge gotcha journalism fails to consider context and needs to die. Context matters. If someone is on the air with a shock jock, the satire matters.” Also, Clay said, we always shouldn’t define someone by their worst moment.

Finally, Lori Loughlin, aka Aunt Becky from Full House, had her bail set at $1 million for bribing USC officials for college entry for her daughters was set higher than R. Kelly’s on numerous molestation charges. While what she did was clearly wrong, and shouldn’t be condoned, but Danny Tanner wouldn’t have approved of this. And neither do I, said Travis.
