D-Day 75th anniversary, Raptors-Warriors, Lowry drama, Beyoncé drama, NBA ratings tank over "owner"

On today’s Outkick the Show, Clay Travis honored our WWII veterans by praising their bravery and sacrifice on the beaches of Normandy on this 75th Anniversary of D-Day. Travis shared his experience of touring the battle-sites two years ago while visiting France, commenting on how standing on the cliffs looking out over the ocean has forever changed the amount gratitude he has for our veterans and the United States of America. He also shared his disdain for the signifiant numbers of Americans who casually toss around the term “Nazi” for anyone in disagreement with their own political narratives. Travis also shared the heartwarming story of 97-year old Tom Rice and his return to Normandy yesterday, parachuting onto the same beach on which he landed 75 years ago to the day to fight for our freedom.

Clay Travis continued by discussing the much less serious status of the NBA Finals, with the Toronto Raptors winning Game 3 last night over the Golden State Warriors. The series is largely dependent upon the injuries plaguing the Warriors, said Travis, and its outcome will go in favor of the Warriors if Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant can return to the court in the games to come. If not, the Raptors will enjoy their first NBA Championship. Also, if Durant returns and “rescues” the Warriors, the question of his free agency will be answered with a new contract to stay in Oakland, added Travis.

Clay Travis voiced his opinion on the “non-story” of a minority owner of the Golden State Warriors who lightly shoved Raptor Kyle Lowry after he fell into the crowd during Game 3 of the NBA Finals. This scenario only contributes to the foolish idea of the NBA considering removing the title of “owner” because it is somehow being interpreted as racially insensitive, said Travis. An enormous threat to the NBA is the politicization of its league, added Travis, which plagued the NFL for years. Clay pointed to a recent poll he conducted on his Twitter account, asking followers of they thought calling the owner of an NBA team was racially insensitive. 96% said it was not. Owning a house, a business, a dog, and a lawnmower are all aspirations for those of us who live in our capitalistic society. LeBron James owns a stake in a soccer team, Michael Jordan owns an NBA team. Being an owner is not racially insensitive, said Travis. The entire conversation is stupid.

Clay Travis continued by mentioning the Beyoncé non-story, with social media pouncing on an owner’s wife after the singer gave her a questionable look during Game 3 of the NBA Finals. “This is utterly absurd,” said Travis. “The Internet has become, thanks to social media, a ‘blame factory.’”

Finally, Clay Travis mentioned how the NBA ratings are continuing to tank, with Game 3 ratings down 23%. This is largely due to the politicization of the league, with an undue amount of negative attention surrounding the innocuous word “owner.”
