Jeh Johnson is the lawyer for the US department of defence. He says that there are continuous meetings held on whether the national security and military operations can be more transparent.
He says that in June 2012 the US government made public the fact that they are engaged in conflict in Yemen and Somalia with Al Qaeda and Al Qaeda affiliated targets. He concludes by stating that in conjunction with the interests of national security the US government strives to be as transparent as they can.

ABOUT JEH JOHNSON:
Jeh Charles Johnson serves in the Obama Administration as the General Counsel for the US Department of Defense, one of the largest and most demanding lawyer positions in Washington. Johnson is the top lawyer for one of the largest government agencies in the world, oversees the legal approval for all military operations by the United States, and was instrumental in the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell by the US Congress in 2010. Since his appointment by President Obama in 2009, Johnson has given several high-profile addresses on counter-terrorism and other issues. At the Oxford Union, he will address "the conflict against al Qaeda and its affiliates"
