Ahmet Üzümcü is the Director-General of the OPCW, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize under his leadership in 2013. Before his appointment in December 2009, he served as the Turkish Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva. This year, the OPCW marks its twentieth anniversary, facing challenges such as the elimination of the continuous use thereof in the conflict in Syria.
