Sarah Margaret "Sally" Roffey Jewell was the 51st United States Secretary of the Interior, serving in the administration of President Barack Obama. She was the second woman to hold the position, after Gale Norton (under the administration of George W. Bush).
Jewell was sworn in on April 12, 2013. As Secretary, she was the steward of twenty percent of U.S. land. Jewell began her career as an engineer working in the oil industry before transitioning into banking. In 1996, she started working for REI, a Seattle-based retailer of outdoor gear, eventually becoming the company's chief operating officer, then CEO.
