Best known for playing the technologically clueless head of the I.T department in the comedy series, "The IT Crowd", Parkinson is one of England's most loved television and theatre actresses. Nominated for the British Comedy Best TV Actress Award and the BAFTA Television Award for Best Female Comedy Performance, winning in 2014, Parkinson originally studies Classics at St Hilda's College at Oxford University. After studying at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Parkinson went on to star in numerous television series and films, starring in films such as "The Boat That Rocked" and "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society". Having performed several times on BBC Radio 4, her performances in plays such as "Home, I'm Darling", have resulted in nominations for the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Play. Her debut work as a playwright, "Sitting", had its London premier in 2019, receiving rave reviews.
