Our ‘free at the point of use’ National Health Service was recently declared by Boris Johnson as ‘one of the great unifying institutions of our country’. Is the peace of mind its funding model affords, that no one needs to worry about being able to afford treatment, worth the middling healthcare outcomes and year after year of winter crises? Should Brits clap for the NHS and form a ‘human shield’ from the threat of 'privatisation', or should we learn more from countries other than the US?
