Jones is an American politician who served as a US Senator from Alabama from 2018 to 2021. Previously a prosecutor, he was best known for securing the convictions of two Ku Klux Klan mem- bers for the 1963 Birmingham Church bombing. Jones became the first Democrat to represent Alabama in the Senate since 1997 after defeating Republican Roy Moore, and was considered a frontrunner for the position of Attorney General in Joe Biden’s administration.
