Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell is an astrophysicist, whose groundbreaking research has earned her prizes including the Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics and the Copley Medal. She discovered radio pulsars in 1967. This discovery earned the Nobel Prize in Physics, though she personally was not one of the recipients, which has generated controversy. Burnell has since campaigned to improve the number of women in the fields of physics and astronomy.
