@ProfessorDaveExplains & @DebunktheFunkwithDrWilson go head-to-head with Pierre Cory & Steve Kirsch on Vaccines

The anti-vaccine claims in this discussion rely heavily on anecdotes, temporal coincidences, and conspiracy allegations rather than the totality of scientific evidence.

* **"Autism didn't exist before."** False. Autism has always existed, but diagnostic criteria have broadened significantly, awareness has increased, and many people who would once have gone undiagnosed are now correctly identified.

* **"Most regressive autism happens right after vaccines."** Autism symptoms often emerge between 12–24 months—the same period children receive many vaccines. A close timing does not demonstrate causation.

* **"Nobody has studied this."** False. Numerous large studies involving millions of children across multiple countries have compared vaccinated and unvaccinated children, vaccine timing, and vaccine exposure. The overwhelming conclusion is that routine childhood vaccines do **not** increase the risk of autism.

* **"William Thompson proved vaccines cause autism."** False. Thompson raised concerns about one CDC analysis, but subsequent reviews did not find evidence that vaccines cause autism. He has never claimed vaccines generally cause autism and continues to support vaccination.

* **"Pharma is corrupt, therefore vaccine science is corrupt."** Pharmaceutical companies have committed serious misconduct in the past, but that does not invalidate decades of independent vaccine research conducted across many countries, institutions, and healthcare systems.

The vaccine–autism hypothesis has been tested repeatedly using different methods and populations. If vaccines were a major cause of autism, researchers around the world would consistently detect that signal. They have not. The evidence overwhelmingly supports the conclusion that routine childhood vaccines do **not** cause autism.
