=======================================
I’m celebrating my 1-year anniversary on YouTube, and in this video, I’ll take you behind-the-scenes and share how much I made my first year on YouTube with LESS than 1,000 subscribers, and how I did it.
INCOME STREAM #1
The first income stream I focused on was selling my own high-end premium program because, in my experience, this is the quickest and most effective way to make a significant amount of money with a new YouTube channel.
It’s hard to offer a high-end program directly from a YouTube video so you need some kind of enrollment system, usually a free or low-cost consultation or live event.
In your YouTube videos you promote the consultation or event, and then in that consultation or event, you make an offer for your high-end program, if it’s a fit.
In my first year on YouTube, about $25,000 came from this first income stream.
INCOME STREAM #2
The second biggest income stream in my first year was from clients wanting to hire me directly from my YouTube videos.
This is really fun because it feels like clients coming out of the blue! Of course, it’s not out of the blue. It’s because I’ve been consistently providing value through my weekly videos, and as people watch them, they get to know me and want to work with me.
When your potential clients can see you and hear you, they get more of a feel for your personality and energy than if they were just reading your blog or e-mail newsletter.
I’ve had this experience as a client, too!
For example, my friend Karen McMullen did a series of videos on her YouTube channel about being a Manifestor in Human Design
After seeing those videos, I was ready to book a VIP one-on-one session with her.
In my first year on YouTube, about $5,100 came from clients hiring me directly from my YouTube videos, either reaching out to me about how we could work together or signing up for programs from a link in the description.
INCOME STREAM #3
My third income stream is affiliate and referral programs.
This is where you become an affiliate of another person or company that you believe in and promote their products and services in your YouTube videos.
One nice thing is that it’s almost always free to sign up to become an affiliate, and some apps will even automatically give you a special link for referring friends that gives both you and your friend free stuff.
Based on a snapshot of the current values when I was planning this video and assuming HALF of that came from YouTube, I’ve earned a little over $700 from this third income stream.
I made about $30,800 in total income from my first year on YouTube, which is an extra $2,500 a month, working very part time.
After expenses, my PROFIT for the year was $4,300 for the year or $353 per month.
I wouldn’t keep investing this much of my time and energy for that amount of income, but given that I didn’t expect to make ANY profit from my first year on YouTube, I’m happy with it.
The way I see it, every single video I create is an asset that can continue to make me more income over time.
