14:07Now PlayingThe (Dis)Information war.
Don't buy what the Pentagon is selling without question. Nor Kyiv.
But one side is on a different level when it comes to sowing confusion and disinformation. Don't let the Russians gaslight you. They are damned good at it but lives are at stake.
That old chesnut of truth being the first victim in war has validity. And in the digital age it's even worse. Be mindful of that when consuming information. From me as well. I'm not beyond making mistakes. And I do love this country (warts and all). But my intention is to relay what I see here as close to objectively as I am able. Aware always that we all have our biaises. It is an impossible goal but we should always strive for it.
UPDATE1: To clarify, the Russians presented a laptop but have yet to show...and get independently verified...any files on it. They claim those files show battle plans against Donbas. I mean I can wave my Macbook around and say it has files showing the moon is made of cheese. Doesn't make it so unless someone who can be trusted is allowed to go through it.
UPDATE2: Since posting this, of course, the Russian Foreign Ministry has come out with a litany of paper thin excuses as to why the Mariupol attack was a false flag by the Azov Battalion. Not nice guys, to be sure. But to make that claim with little actual proof only belies a deep sense of cynicism in their worldview and a deep lack of understanding of Ukrainians and how unified they are. But, then, that kinda makes my point for me.
