Now that your case has been referred to immigration court, you are officially in deportation proceedings. Make no mistake — this is serious. The government is actively trying to deport you, and you need to present a strong case to avoid that outcome. ⚖️ In immigration court, there are usually two hearings. The first is called a master calendar hearing, which is mostly administrative. The second is called an individual hearing — this is where you tell your full asylum story. Your asylum lawyer will ask you questions so you can explain your experiences in detail, giving the judge what they need to see that you qualify for asylum. At the same time, a government prosecutor from ICE will be asking you questions designed to convince the judge that you don’t qualify. This process can be very intense and emotionally challenging, so it’s crucial to be well-prepared. If you’d like our help getting ready, schedule a consultation at winasylum.com.
