YouTube Description
as posted by the channelSuing the government to force your asylum interview will not hurt your asylum case 💪🏽 I get why it might seem risky — but based on my experience as a former government asylum officer and now as an asylum lawyer ⚖️, that fear just doesn’t match reality. My law firm has filed around 200 of these mandamus lawsuits, and we’ve seen zero connection between filing one and getting a negative asylum decision 🚫. Here’s why: 1️⃣ The asylum officer who interviews you and decides your case usually doesn’t even know you filed the lawsuit. When I worked at USCIS, we had no idea when someone had sued to get their interview. 2️⃣ Even if they do know, it’s not a big deal 🙌🏽. In the U.S., suing the government is a normal and accepted way to assert your rights. It’s not seen as disrespectful or aggressive — it’s just part of how our system works 🇺🇸. 3️⃣ Legally, they can’t use the lawsuit against you 📜. It’s not one of the factors they’re allowed to consider when making a decision. Bottom line — filing a mandamus will not harm your asylum case. I can say that with extremely high confidence ✅.
