If you have no criminal record and you’re still afraid of being picked up by ICE, the government’s own data explains exactly why that fear is justified 🚨 As of April 4, ICE was holding 60,311 people in detention, a drop from its recent peak but still at historically high levels. Daily arrests have declined since January, and more people are now being monitored with GPS ankle devices instead of being held in detention ⚖️ But the real story is not how many people are detained, it’s who is being detained. The rise and fall of ICE detention has been driven almost entirely by immigrants with no criminal history 💼 For the first time on record, people with criminal convictions are the smallest group in ICE custody. Families, asylum seekers, and people who have simply shown up to their immigration appointments are filling these detention centers 📢 The administration promised to target the worst of the worst, but their own data tells a different story. I’m Brian Manning, and if you need help with an asylum case or getting a loved one out of immigration detention, send me the word “CONSULT” in a direct message.
