If an asylum officer starts raising their voice or becomes insulting, you don’t have to just sit there and take it ⚠️ You can stop the interview and ask to speak with the Supervisory Asylum Officer, or SAO 🚨 Some officers cross the line, acting hostile or making inappropriate comments when they’re supposed to be neutral. That can throw you off your story right when you need to be most focused 💔 When you ask for the SAO, the officer has to go get them. You can explain that you’re not being treated with respect 💬 At that point, you have two options: ask the supervisor to intervene or request to reschedule. Rescheduling with a different officer is usually the better move ⚖️ Once you escalate, it’s hard for that officer to stay objective. And you may be reassigned to someone more professional 📅 This interview is extremely important. You shouldn’t have to spend it defending yourself from the officer ✊ Also, having a lawyer present makes a big difference.
