Nearly 11,000 federal court rulings have reached the same conclusion: the government cannot lock people up without due process. ⚖️ According to recent reporting, federal courts across the country have issued thousands of rulings against ICE’s mass detention policy, which allows immigrants with no criminal record to be held for long periods without a bond hearing. And this is not a close legal debate. 🚨 Hundreds of federal judges, including several appointed by Donald Trump, have ruled against these detention practices. Some judges who sided with ICE even admitted in their opinions that the outcome troubled them deeply because of the human consequences involved. 📄 Appeals courts in multiple regions of the country have now rejected ICE’s approach, limiting the government’s ability to continue these detentions without proper review. In places like Minnesota, judges rejected the overwhelming majority of detention cases following large enforcement operations. ⚠️ Federal courts matter because judges cannot simply be removed or replaced when an administration disagrees with their rulings. For many detained immigrants, federal court has become one of the most important remaining paths to challenge detention and fight for release. 🏛️ If a loved one is currently detained, understanding your legal options can make a huge difference. If you need help with an asylum case or help getting a loved one out of immigration detention, send the word “CONSULT” in a direct message.
