Brazilian ex-girlfriend Amanda Ungaro was sitting

in a Miami jail on fraud charges.

He saw an opportunity. He reached out to top ICE

official David Venturella — explaining that his ex

was in the country illegally. Could she be put in

ICE detention? That could help him get his son back.

Venturella called ICE's Miami office to ensure

agents would pick Ungaro up from jail before she

could post bail. During the call he noted the case

was important to someone close to the White House.

After weeks in ICE custody — fearing prolonged

detention would destroy her custody rights entirely

— Ungaro requested deportation to Brazil herself.

Zampolli now has custody of their son.

The mother of his child is in Brazil.

Away from her son.

He got exactly what he wanted.
